I hate when people say it like this. Sure, humanity has many faults, but it's slowly improving towards a bright future, and like *UEY-S* said, we're still primitive. You can't give up on a one year old child for it breaking a pot, the same is with humanity. We learn, and we grow, we learn to adapt, and we learn to explore, using the immense curiosity we have.
Think of it like this. When we get to comfortable, we begin looking for small faults, and tries to correct them, even-though it turns out faulty in the end, but when something big needs to be done, humanity has reached above all other species on this planet, and I don't doubt for a second, on other planets as well. We have come so far since our beginning, and we evolve each day.
Humanity will prevail, as one, in the end. I will never doubt that.
But I still believe we will cause our own demise. We seem to have a glorious way of fucking ourselves over. Individually humans have the ability to destroy lives for the most ridiculous reasons and groups of people will always have meaningless differences that result into conflict. It's the way we are. We act all civilized but that's because we're kept in line with rules so obvious they shouldn't even have to be enforced. A simple example of this self-inflicted misery is money. We created it. We 'invented' money to express posession and value. We cling on to it, our whole life revolves around money and obtaining it. Money doesn't buy you happiness, but it buys you everything you need to be happy. And people will do anything, literally anything for money. I'm not saying we should give up on money, we need it. But we can't deny that materialism (which is basically a form of power, and boy do we like power) destroys as much as it helps lives. I know I sound grim, and I'm not at all a fatalistic person. People can be great but deep down we're monsters. Everything has to come to an end and I believe we will be our own end.
Still, I think it's nice that there are people still believing in humanity. I hope you'll all prove me wrong.
I agree on almost everything you just said. Deep down we are animals, and it shall be a while before most of society stops being so childish and ignorant. Zh3sh1re is right, you can't blame a 1-year old for breaking a pot, just like you can't blame a primitive race, such as ourselves, for damaging the world. Especially since we are repopulating faster than we can solve our problems, with 7 billion members, different rules of governing continents, and dependence on other countries for financial aid and product production, the majority of the population not very well educated, and most sane people not looking much further than their next meal, wouldn't you say we are doing quite well?
We are just still a very primate society. We have not learned how to live in unity due to our constant separation of each other. See the world and every person as your family, as yourself, as one.. and you will not rape, kill, hurt, enslave, or torture yourself
Well that's where the problem lies. Even if we would overcome all the differences and belong to the same ideal, we'd still be killing eachother because we're a bunch of jealous, power hungry, frustrated, selfish idiots.
Beings will be killing each other as long as the world is separated and as long as we they think primitively. Look into raising your consciousness to understanding that All is One and One is All and you will see why there would be nothing to be frustrated over, nothing to be jealous over. I don't expect you to understand this now because most of our world's fundamental structures are built on primitive perspectives, thus, we keep killing each other and feel the need to hoard from others. But if you are interested, anyone is able to raise their consciousness
